On his 6th single, "Rose" Taeyong assures us of his undeniable talent
Review by Maria Eduarda Ribeiro Cavalcanti
In the daydreams of midnight, the world got a little bit more perfumed with the charming fragrance of roses as Taeyong, or better saying, "TY" released his newest single "Rose".
Surprisingly, just like on his past single "Monroe", yet again TY collaborates with another SM artist, this time it's no one less than Kang Seulgi, from Red Velvet. In a retrospective of their time in SM Rookies, which happened around 2013, it is certainly refreshing to see the both of them together again, this time, as more mature artists.
Following the same line, Taeyong relays on his traditional lo-fi hip-hop-ish, with colorful musical tones that never failed to project tranquility as well as a taint of melancholy on it is listeners, all of this wrapped in an R&B fueled track, makes the song feel like you are in a garden, watching the wet roses, while water drops fells from them and the whole place smells like wet earth.
Despite always being inside his comfort zone musically wise, Taeyong is still able to somehow, stay versatile. A big part of that it's because of his theatrical performances, exploring a new character in each song, going as far as giving them a different tone. Another part it's his lyrics that never disappoint and continuously capture everyday emotions and objects in a different and more poetic form.
Taeyong's songs are like little passports to his mind, once you have putten his lens, the world gains another meaning, another color, and what was ordinary now becomes grand.
Rose lyrics, composed by both, it's sweet and exhales the perfume of fresh roses while describes the turbulence of longing. The use of the rose and it is thorns as a metaphor for communication problems in a relationship, and the garden, as a piece of paradise where for them means the company of the other, it's interesting and fun to explore. The romance that involves the song, makes you question what is the feeling of being loved by someone like Taeyong or Seulgi and being able to be captured so beautifully in a song like this.
Not only in the lyrics but TY and Seulgi both were involved in the production of the song, proving that SM entertainment, in fact, got it right in hiring the two, as they provide the monopoly of the company's for one more generation.
While we cheer for Seulgi to expose more of her talent, previously unknown, but already consistent and attractive, it is still comforting to know that we will always have Taeyong's lovely musical bouquet.

this is very beautiful
